PDF – Finding a Balance in Communication Styles

In my last Luther Seminary class, a group of us created a ministry resource on the broad topic of communication. The class was all about integrating technology into daily lives and making something productive and helpful out of it for ministry.

This particular resource is a small group leader’s guide meant to help people find their balance between communications styles: technological communication and face-to-face communication.

Here is a PDF of that leader’s guide:

Ninite – A Solution for Mass Installs and Updates

Ninite is an easy solution for installing software and making sure it is up to date.

I have used it many times for simple installations of multiple programs at once (ex: Chrome, Java, Adobe, etc.) Once you load the program, you specify which programs you want installed or up to date, then Ninite will automatically make sure the latest version of each of those softwares is installed. It is super nice and easy to use.

dUninstaller – An Automated Program Uninstaller

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 1.49.22 PM

dUninstaller is a program with one purpose: to uninstall other programs.

Sometimes you will find the Control Panel > add/remove programs > [PROGRAM] > right-click > uninstall method will not work. The uninstallation of a program may be problematic. That program may have a protocol to prevent uninstallation, there may be remnants left in your Windows Registry Editor, or something else still.

When you launch dUninstaller, you will see all your programs listed. From there you can select whatever program you want uninstalled and let the program do the rest of the work.

I have not had any troubles so far after using the program (ex: a corrupt Windows Registry, other programs not working, etc.), so it could be your solution to getting rid of something lurking on your computer.

Malwarebytes – Clean Your Computer of Malware

Malwarebytes is an awesome tool for scanning hard drives for any potential threats or signs of malware.

Their free, downloadable version of the software works as sort of a one-time cleaning operation. You can use it as much as you would like, but there is a difference between this anti-malware software and others. Others, such as Eset, work in real-time while you are using your computer. Malwarebytes runs on demand.

If you suspect your computer may be showing signs of malware (ex: pop-ups, different web browser home page than normal), then get Malwarebytes and run a scan. The program will identify threats, clean them, then provide you with a report.

Macrium Reflect – Backup and Restore Disk Images

Macrium Reflect is a program intended for disk backups and restorations.

If you were wanting to make an exact image (copy) of a hard drive, you can backup that disk through Macrium Reflect. Then you can restore that image to whatever destination you want.

One practical use for this software is for when your hard drive is showing signs of failure. Rather than waiting for that disk to crash which potentially means losing all your data, you can make an image of that disk and then restore it onto a new, fresh hard drive.

The program is easy to use and works well.

Adam-Copeland--300x300 is Adam J. Copeland’s personal website. He was previously a pastor at a Presbyterian church, and he is now pursuing his PhD in rhetoric, writing and culture. He writes on religion, technology, education, church, and culture. Adam also “drinks scotch, devours sharp cheddar, and asks lots and lots of questions”(About Me Page).

I had the opportunity of hearing him speak at Luther Seminary on the topic of crowdfunding. He is a strong speaker, both engaging and passionate for his areas of interest. Writing and speaking are two of Adam’s main ways for engaging these interests.

He definitely has more to explore himself as he pursues higher education and takes his interests to the next level.
